Christopher D. Hillyer, M.D., Co-Founder, Chairman and Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Hillyer is a Tenured Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. He currently serves as Director of the Emory Center for Transfusion and Cellular Therapies with oversight of blood banks at all affiliate institutions. Dr. Hillyer is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine. He is Chief Editor of three textbooks in Transfusion Medicine, author of over 120 transfusion articles and immediate past President of the AABB (formerly American Association of Blood Banks) and Trustee of the National Blood Foundation.
John D. Roback, M.D., Ph.D., Co-Founder, Chief Scientific Officer. Dr. Roback is a Tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, Co-Director of the Emory Center for Transfusion and Cellular Therapies, and Co-Director of the Emory University Hospital Blood Bank. Dr. Roback is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in Clinical Pathology and Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine. He has served as principal investigator on several NIH and National Blood Foundation grants. Dr. Roback is also the Editor for the 16th edition of the AABB’s Technical Manual.
Terence A. (Terry) Walts, President, Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Walts is a seasoned medical device executive and serial entrepreneur with 19 years medical device experiences involving 10 start-ups (5 full-time), including 3Ti. He has served as Past President, Refocus Group from 2002-2005 (OTCBB:RFCS). He is a current Director, VirtualScopics (NASDAQ:VSCP) and is a past COO and Director of Oncose, an in-vitro diagnostics company developing oncology blood tests (2001-02). Mr. Walts was also Chief Marketing Officer and a Director at Autonomous (NASDAQ:ATCI) from 1994-98. While at CIBA Vision/Novartis from 1988-98 he held the positions of SVP-Sales & Marketing & SVP-Business Development. Mr. Walts holds a B.S., Marketing from Indiana University and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.
Fred Baumbach, Chief Financial Officer, CPA. Mr. Baumbach is a partner at TechCFO, a consulting firm which services early stage life science companies. He has over 30 years senior financial and operational management experiences with both early stage and established companies such as Brickstream Corp, Silverpop Systems, Cox Enterprises, Norrell Health Care and Lynk Services. He spent 8 years as CPA with Ernst & Young including 3 years on E&R’s national office auditing and accounting staff.
